I quite enjoyed this, you were able to build this feeling of dread and helplessness throughout very well. I felt so bad for our MC, no choice was able to save them and it was even more heartbreaking on routes where they never broke the brainwashing of the cult. The point and click elements were a nice touch and very subtle, I missed a few of those options during my first run and it was cool going back and discovering them. I will say I kind of wish there was some music or maybe some ambient sounds throughout, it felt weird going through the whole thing in complete silence and I think some kind of background sounds would add to the atmosphere. But overall this was a really effective story.
I decided to play this game on a bit of a whim honestly, and I'm glad I did. For one person, you really did a marvelous job.
The fact that everyone is robes aside from their mouth and jaw gives it all a very impersonal feeling, and as a person who has skimmed over cults it seems like you invested some research into them as well!
(The loss of oneself, the preying on the vulnerable, the fact the vulnerable continue to be so by being overworked and investing all of their money into the religion)
A part of me is pretty sure the 'Dream' of the High Priest is real, however I am slightly confused as to how the High Priest gets away with it what with the need for the MC to be 'pure' for the god.
And perhaps I just didn't find a way around it, but the fact that the only thing different between the endings is the flavor text of how the MC feels gives the whole thing a sense of chilling inevitability.
They invested their whole selves into the religion, there is no escape for them even when they do realize it, as the people they believe to be friends care more about the God and pleasing him over the terror their friend feels.
The small section with Olivia when you try to run is heartbreaking as you ask for help, only to not receive it.
Either way you will end up with your God, either willingly or not and that is so heartbreaking to think about when considering the MC.
Thank you again for making this vn, you did a fantastic job and I can't wait to see more of your work!
Thank you so much for this comment! I'm really glad you liked this game.
I did my best to depict the cult somewhat realistically (aside from supernatural elements) because I feel it's important to understand why someone might join a cult and why it's hard to leave.
There isn't an ending where the MC can escape (unfortunately because in their situation it's nearly impossible). However there is an alternate ending that'll answer your question (in regards to why their god let's the priest get away with it). There was a small hint given in the main ending, but it could understandably be missed.
I don't know if you want to find the alternate ending on your own, but I will leave a hint, and how to get it below so you can keep scrolling if you just want to know.
The alternate ending is gained by getting "god" to like you/MC a lot. (I'll say how to do this below, if you want to figure it out on your own then don't scroll down)
The way to get the most points is to worship as much as possible, so click on the altar multiple times during the chores and in the isolation room at every opportunity. And provided I didn't accidentally mess up the code, it should work.
Hello CrimSin, I tested out the alternate ending and it worked! Holy Cow, I should have known with the glowing eyes that the High Priest was off in more ways than one, how completely fascinating!
Thank you so much for the tip and the game, magnificent work!
Hello! I believe this is the same error that was already reported, but I wanted to add a picture since that might help you get a better grip at what the error is and how to fix it. : )
Other than this issue I love the game a bunch and I'm excited for not only this bug to get fixed, but for what your future games have in store as well! :D
Thank you! The picture actually did help
I updated the downloadable file, so you can download them again. If you load a previous save, use one from before the player is brought into the sermon room for the ritual. And if you run into any more issues please tell me.
And thank you so much for playing. I'm really glad you liked it and hearing you're excited about future games gave me a big motivation boost.
Hello!
I played it and enjoyed it a lot, but there's an error that makes it impossible for me to continue playing and reach one of the endings.
Besides that, it's an amazing game. I really liked the heavy themes and the characters; I couldn't help but feel sorry for the main character. If you would like someone to quality-test your game and look for bugs, you can message me on Discord if you’d like!

Thank you so much! It means a lot that you liked it so much despite the error
I think I found the problem and it worked when I tested it. I just updated the downloadable files you can redownload them. (Tho if you load from a save, you should use one from before the player is brought in for the ritual)
And thank you for the offer, I'll keep it in mind.
If you run into anymore errors please let me know
